Potato Salad Kickstarter Raises $70K in One Week, Loses Over $30K Days Later

huffposalad

Just a week after we reported on Zack “Danger” Brown, aka the Potato Salad Guy, his project exploded on Kickstarter. Sure, raising $1,600 for a $10 goal is pretty awesome, but getting $70,000 in support in less than a week? Pretty friggin’ crazy.

But as quick as potato salad fans rallied alongside the most ridiculous Kickstarter project in the history of ever, they started to disappear. A few days after the project hit its $70K milestone it dropped almost $30,000, nearly half of the total amount pledged. Brown, who’s been pretty good about updating the project at every major event, had nothing to say about the insane decline in funds.

It was assumed fans gave up on the potato salad party or that the novelty of the project wore off, possibly resulting in backers pulling their pledges before the project officially closes. However, the L.A. Times is reporting that there were three very large pledges of $10,000 that did not pass the verification process and were cancelled.

Either way, Brown has way more than enough money to make all the potato salad he could ever want, and then some.
