Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts Released for the First Time in 27 Years

poptarts

We’ve been begging for a peanut butter Pop-Tart ever since the Peanut Butter & Jelly Pop-Tart was discontinued in 1986. Now, after 27 years of waiting, Pop-Tart scientists have created the perfect mix of flavors to bring us Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts and Frosted Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts. At least that’s the story we’re choosing to believe, because there’s really no other excuse for depriving us of creamy peanut butter pastries since Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was playing in theaters. No. Excuse.

The Peanut Butter Pop-Tart comes covered with tiny sugar crystals, while the Frosted Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tart has a chocolate pastry crust, peanut butter filling, and chocolate frosting. Both flavors come wrapped in gold foil to distinguish them from Pop-Tarts’ traditional flavors and are available nationwide. And the best part? Kellogg feels so bad about the two decade peanut butter absence that they’re releasing the new flavors by touring the country in a toaster-shaped truck to distribute the Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts far and wide.

We won’t lie, we’re jelly of that sweet ride. And when we add in the glory of the Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich released last month . . . we just might forgive Pop-Tarts after all.
