Is Banana The New Pumpkin Spice? Food Brands Are Betting On It
There’s a banana craze right now—it’s actually bananas. Even The New York Times questioned whether banana flavors are the new pumpkin spice. That’s how you know it’s wild. So what’s going on?
Well, the hype around the sweet and somehow polarizing fruit exploded when TikTok creators began pouring banana milk over cold foams and matchas. Soon after, banana lattes started popping up across TikTok.
Now, there’s a surge of banana-flavored products. From Dunkin’ Donuts dropping an exclusive “Goin” Bananas spring menu to M&M’s Banana Nut Bread candies. Even Little Debbie, the classic childhood snack tapped in with their Banana Puddin’ Cream Pies. Everyone seems to be betting on bananas right now.
Califia Farms is the latest to bet big on the fruit with the release of its Califia Farms Organic Banana Crème Almond Creamer. The plant-based coffee creamer even compressed its usual 9-12 month development timeline to just six months so they could enter the banana convo and capitalize off of the demand.
Whether bananas become the next pumpkin spice remains to be seen. However, if brands keep rolling out banana-flavored products, this trend may not be peeling away anytime soon. When TikTok gets its hand on something, it’s probably a trend worth preparing for.
