This is not a drill. McDonald’s is bringing back the original Fried Apple Pie for a limited time beginning June 23.

For the uninitiated, the OG disappeared in the early ’90s when McDonald’s swapped it for an oven-baked version. Now, 34 years later, the fan-favorite dessert is making its return with the same golden crunch and flaky fried crust that earned it a devoted following in the first place.

And McDonald’s isn’t stopping at the menu.

To celebrate the return, the chain is putting Fried Apple Pie back on the map—literally.

Just outside Chicago along historic Route 66, McDonald’s is unveiling what it’s calling the “McDonald’s Largest Fried Apple Pie,” a 35-foot roadside monument dedicated to one of the brand’s most beloved desserts. Located at 920 N. Broadway St. in Joliet, Illinois, the oversized pie invites fans to snap photos, pick up a McDonald’s souvenir map, and add another stop to their summer road trip itinerary.

The activation kicks off June 23 with a launch event running from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT featuring live music, ice-cold Coca-Cola, and complimentary McDonald’s Arch Cards. The giant pie will remain on display through July 4 as part of the country’s 250th birthday celebrations.
