You Must Be 18+ To Eat This New Scorching Hot Chili Product

Store shelves are about to heat up in the UK. British supermarket Iceland has released two new ready-made chili meals sure to leave your nostrils smoking. There’s a catch, though: You must be at least 18 years of age to legally purchase it.

It’s the UK’s first food product that requires you to present identification, like a new adult food category or something. Iceland’s new ready-made meals, Chicken Tikka Masala and Chili Mac & Cheese, include Pepper X aka the world’s hottest chili.

On the Scoville scale, Pepper X has 2.69 million heat units. If you think that you can take the heat, you may want to reconsider because that’s 53,760% spicier than a jalapeño. This piquant pepper was created by Ed Currie, the American chili cultivator responsible for the Carolina Reaper. Pepper X broke the Guinness World Records in 2023.

Iceland Foods head development chef Matthew Worsley said in a press release, “With intense heat comes great responsibility, so to ensure only the most experienced spice enthusiasts can take on the challenge, we’ve decided to limit sales to customers aged 18 and over.”

The new Pepper X meals are now available at The Food Warehouse and Iceland stores throughout the UK.
