Pizza Hut General Manager Offered Job Back After Refusing to Work Thanksgiving

Who in the Sam Hill eats pizza on Thanksgiving?

That had to have been at least one of the thoughts that occurred to former Pizza Hut general manager Tony Rohr when he refused to force his employees to work this past Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.

CNN reports that the 28-year-old, 10-year Pizza Hut employee was told to sign a letter of resignation by his superiors in Elkhart, Ind. after protesting their request to open the store on the holiday — a day he stated was one of the “only two days [along with Christmas] that [employees] are guaranteed to have off to spend with their families.”

Rohr told CNN he refused to quit and instead wrote a letter venting his frustration.

“I accept that the refusal to comply with this greedy, immoral request means the end of my tenure with this company,” he says he wrote. “I hope you realize that it is the people at the bottom of the totem pole that make your life possible.”

Thanks to the power of communal internet rage, however, Pizza Hut corporate has apparently called for Rohr’s reinstatement, per a release on the company’s Facebook. Rohr, understandably, says he needs to think about it — presumably over a warm plate of turkey leftovers.
