Starbucks Launches Horchata-Inspired ‘Almondmilk Macchiato’

Now that almond milk has become a staple of Starbucks’ lineup, they can finally experiment with new types of drink concepts that incorporate the nutty, non-dairy milk.

The Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato is their latest creation in that line, and was inspired by the popular Latin American drink horchata.

The new almond milk-based Macchiato consists of Starbucks espresso, almondmilk, and cinnamon dolce syrup. It is then topped with caramel drizzle, and cinnamon dolce topping.

In other words, it’s a whole lot of cinnamon in an almond milk Macchiato.

Fans of horchata can see that the new Starbucks drink is obviously not straight up horchata, but you can peep the similarities that inspired it, from the heavy use of cinnamon, to the milky almond base.

Joining the horchata-like Macchiato will be another non-dairy item called the Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato. This drink can be ordered hot, or cold, with espresso shots poured over steamed coconutmilk, combined with a hint of white chocolate mocha sauce. The drink is then topped with both caramel drizzle and mocha sauce.

If you’re a fan of non-dairy drinks, then you have to be pretty stoked that Starbucks is finally offering a wider variety of them.
