Having a Sit-Down Dinner on the 405 Freeway — #NBD

Again, if are a Southern California-resident, you recently heard the not-so-joyous moans of commuters who had to deal with “Carmageddon” this past weekend. Carmageddon — the unofficial name of the 405 freeway closure that left many people up-in-arms, changing plans and taking a myriad of alternate routes throughout the city didn’t affect this young couple and their adventurous friends.

According to an updated report from the LA Times, the folks in the photo above are Matt Corrigan (29), wife Amanda (28) and friend Barry Neely (31). Before the armageddon of free way closures took place this past weekend, the trio decided they wanted to do something outlandish on the 405…and tapping their inner foodie, decided “Let’s have a dinner party.” Jesse Glucksman was also around for the photographer duties.

While the photo doesn’t make out any of the menu, the group had planned to have pasta salad with cranberry juice instead of wine while wearing dressy attire. Time wasn’t on their side though, and with cops, helicopters and construction crew, they had to forego portions of their dinner, and one gentleman in the photo didn’t even have time to remove his track pant bottoms.

Surprisingly, no arrests were made or charges pressed…they were never truly caught. They managed to clean up and make it off the road before they were noticed by anyone of any significant authority. Kudos on a dinner well executed!
