Taco Bell just let fans decide its next menu drop, and the Butter Chicken Taco came out on top.

The Butter Chicken Taco won Taco Bell’s first-ever Global Taco Vote with 64.65% of the vote, beating out Thailand’s Kickin’ Chicken Taco and securing a limited-time release on U.S. menus later this year.

The campaign handed Taco Bell Rewards members real decision-making power, asking them to choose which international-inspired taco should make the jump stateside. Fans didn’t hesitate.

Inspired by the classic Indian dish, the Butter Chicken Taco stacks shredded slow-roasted chicken in a tomato cream-based sauce with warm spices, then tops it with onion, cilantro, lettuce, and cheddar cheese inside a crispy chalupa shell.

It’s a big swing toward global flavors, but more importantly, it’s Taco Bell putting the menu in customers’ hands and following through on the jumper. This move is on par with Taco Bell’s penchant for innovating in the fast food space, continuing its bold moves like the many new items the brand plans to unveil in 2026.

The Butter Chicken Taco will hit participating U.S. Taco Bell locations for a limited time later this year.
