Del Taco’s New Fried Pickle Taco Is Here To Jolt Flavor Into Summer

Leave it to the experts at Del Taco to deep fry a dill spear, wrap it in a tortilla, and call it lunch.

In a move that feels part dream come true, part TikTok dare, Del Taco is celebrating National Pickle Month by launching a Fried Pickle Taco. Yup. And for now, it’s only available at select locations around Los Angeles and surrounding counties starting July 15. Think: LA, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura—SoCal pickle fiends, this one’s for you.

But what exactly makes up the Fried Pickle Taco? Picture it rolling with a golden, breaded dill pickle spear laid gently inside a warm flour tortilla, then dressed up with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, Del’s signature house-grated cheddar cheese, and a healthy drizzle of creamy ranch. The result is a mashup that somehow manages to be crunchy, tangy, and cool all in one bite.

Of course, before anyone else could get their hands on one, our very own Elie Ayrouth—bean & cheese burrito authority and self-proclaimed pickle monster—was already game and ready to dive in.

Not only did Elie try the Fried Pickle Taco straight up, but he also found out that you can seemingly add the fried pickle spear to other menu items, too! He tried it jammed into a hard shell taco, swapped it into a grilled chicken taco, and yes—mashed up his two great loves by stuffing one inside a beach & cheese burrito. A true union of passions, friends.

So whether you’re a die-hard pickle fan or here for a solid snack, this limited-time bite feels designed to make a little noise this summer.

Like all Del Taco one-offs, it won’t be around forever. Supplies are limited, and price and participation vary depending on the location. So if you’re in SoCal and even a little bit curious, go hit up your local Del Taco before this tangy tortilla ride zooms off into the sunset.
