Jack in the Box is testing how far people are willing to take onion rings.

Right now in San Antonio only, the chain is rolling out Sauced & Loaded Onion Rings, a new test item that turns its classic panko-breaded rings into a well-adorned snack situation.

You get eight crispy onion rings stacked with melty cheese, sauce, ranch, and bacon crumbles. Or, there’s a Hot Mess version that swaps in pepper jack, jalapeños, and extra heat.

Here’s what’s on deck:

Eight onion rings topped with shredded pepper jack, cheese sauce, and sliced jalapeños for a spicier situation.

Prices start at $4.50, and for now, this is strictly a San Antonio test run.

This feels very on-brand for Jack in the Box: take something simple, load it aggressively, and see what sticks. It’s also another example of fast food leaning harder into indulgent snackable sides instead of just focusing on burgers and fries.

If these hit, don’t be surprised if they quietly roll out nationwide. Until then, San Antonio gets first dibs on what is basically onion rings pulling up to their loaded era.
