In the spirit of Tony The Tiger, the OG pep-talker known to encourage the youth, Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes has announced its first-ever culture collaboration. The brand has linked up with rap star and self-professed Frosted Flakes fan J.I.D. to inject its iconic ‘90s “Hey Tony” jingle with a fresh dose of coolness. If you recall the original jingle, with its upbeat guitar riff and catchy “Hey Tony” chant, you’ll love J.I.D.’s hype refresh, which remixes the chant over a bangin’, head nod-friendly beat with motivational lyrics.

“Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes has always had a seat at the breakfast table when I was growing up, and Tony the Tiger has been in my corner since Day One,” J.I.D said. “Reuniting with the brand to recreate the iconic ‘Hey Tony’ jingle draws on my own childhood nostalgia, and I couldn’t be more excited to come together to hype up the next generation with a soundtrack that motivates them to unlock their potential.”

To coincide with the February 22 release, Kellogg’s is dropping limited-edition Tony the Tiger and J.I.D. “Day Ones” merchandise, and a collectible-style Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes “Day Ones” cereal box with a crossword puzzle, and J.I.D. and Tony the Tiger illustrated on the cover. The merchandise, which includes a jersey and t-shirt, will be available exclusively on J.I.D.’s Official Store, along with the cereal box.

On the same day, Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes and J.I.D. will host a “Day Ones” Bowl Game at the Carrollton High Sports Facilities in Atlanta, Georgia. The bowl will include a pep rally with a local marching band and three games of 7×7 football between four teams in a tournament-style championship title.

Each participating football team will receive a donation from Mission Tiger, an initiative that funds new equipment and improves sporting facilities at middle schools. Before kick-off, J.I.D. will perform his “Hey Tony” remix for the first time, along with other popular songs from his catalog. “Day Ones” merchandise will be given to all teams, and the winners will be rewarded as followed:

  • First place: $10,000
  • Second place: $5,000
  • Third place: $2,500
  • Fourth place: $1,250

You can find J.I.D.’s “Hey Tony” track on all streaming platforms when it drops.
