Diet Cherry Coke Makes A Comeback With Nostalgic Packaging

Coca-Cola is reviving Retro Diet Cherry Coke this summer, with the nostalgic cans hitting Kroger-affiliated stores—including Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Fry’s—starting mid-July for a limited time.

First introduced in 1986—just a year after the original Cherry Coke debuted—Diet Cherry Coke quietly disappeared around 2020 during Coca-Cola’s flavor lineup shake-up. Fans have been campaigning online to bring it back “for good,” praising it for its signature candy‑sweet taste and that oh‑so‑’80s packaging.

This revival joins Coca‑Cola’s broader portfolio revival strategy of returning legacy favorites like standard Diet Coke and innovating with new flavors like Orange Cream.

Available mid‑July in both 20‑oz bottles and 12‑can packs, Retro Diet Cherry Coke is a limited‑edition throwback. Coke enthusiasts, stock up when you see it, but don’t count on a permanent comeback.

Nostalgia tastes nice, but remember, it’s a limited drop.
