This Man Once Ate A Whole Costco Chicken In Front Of 1,000 Fans—Now He’s Back For Round Two

On May 1st, 2025, UCSD Costco Club founder and president Johnathan Gong faces off against an entire rotisserie chicken. The epic event takes place at the Epstein Family Amphitheater at 12 p.m. PST and will be the second head-to-wing, following Gong’s history-making performance in March 2023.

The idea for the food challenge was inspired by Alexander Tominsky, a Philadelphia man who pulled off a similar ploy, except with an entire rotisserie chicken each day for 40 days straight. Gong even remade Tominsky’s original flyer design and received a shout-out from the legend himself after the event went viral. The members immortalized the event with a hilarious 20-minute documentary.

Gong hopes the May 1st event will bring together students like the first one had, creating a sense of community. Those who attend will not only witness Gong make history for a second time, but can also enter to win a Costco Membership, Costco Shop cards, Kirkland sweaters, rotisserie chickens, or a free Costco sample!
