Chick-fil-A Low Key Operates A Hawaiian Restaurant, This Is What It’s Like

Fried chicken sandwiches, kalua pork plates, and King’s Hawaiian bread pudding under one roof? This unique and tasty combination of Southern-style fast food and Hawaiian grindz can be found at Truett’s Luau, an official Chick-fil-A location in Fayetteville, Georgia. That’s right, y’all, for some reason, Chick-fil-A is operating a restaurant with Hawaiian-inspired cuisine.

Truett’s Luau has been open since 2013, a year before Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy passed away. It’s become sort of a “staycation” destination for locals, and many share photos of their experiences at the “Hawaiian-themed Chick-fil-A” on Instagram. It’s also probably one of the only places in the country where $3 chicken sandwiches and $16 steak dinners are both on the menu at the same time.

The restaurant gives off a Disney vibe from the start, with ukulele players and wooden carvings expressing the restaurant’s aloha to the extreme. A fun combination of fast food favorites like nuggets and waffle fries alongside kalua pig, mahi mahi, and calamari also gives it that playful theme park feel. I mean, seriously, where else are you going to order mac and cheese and fried rice as the sides to your steak?

Y’all already know what time it is. #foodpic #steakdinner

Those hoping for the authentic Hawaiian grindz, though, may find Truett’s Luau to be a little tame in that regard. Atlanta Magazine’s Wendell Brock describes the Kalua Pork as “no threat to the definitive version I devoured on the Big Island a couple of years ago.” There’s also a Hawaiian plate lunch on the menu that consists of teriyaki chicken nuggets, jasmine rice, and a pasta salad that’s a far cry from the traditional mac salad.

Still, for those looking for a little bit of an island-style vacation while in Georgia, this unique Chick-fil-A location is definitely worth checking out.
