‘Beerlatos’ Are The Grown Up Way To Step Up Your Ice Cream Float Game

One of the greatest childhood desserts of all time has to be the root beer float. This simple combo of ice cream and soda was the instant start to a sugar rush, but also a beloved way to eat (or drink) two of your favorite sweets as a kid.

Fast forward to adulthood, and you may be thinking that ice cream floats are a thing of the past. Luckily, Coolside Gelato Bar in Palm Harbor, Florida has allowed these concoctions to grow up with you in the best way possible. Substitute ice cream for some luxuriously creamy gelato and swap the soda for your beer of choice and you’ve got an adult-friendly float to beat the heat with this summer.

Coolside’s dubbed their customizable creation as the “Beerlato,” and it’s probably the most exciting thing to happen to floats since the original root beer float was invented. While you’ll still get the alcoholic kick from beer, that cold, sweet gelato swimming inside of the booze will bring back some childhood nostalgia as well.

The “Beerlato” is a hip and fun new way to enjoy both beer and ice cream, but also reminds us that even if we’re old enough to order alcohol, we’re all still kids at heart.
