Reese’s Lovers, Your Greatest Weakness Now Weighs Over Three Pounds
As someone who considers Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups one of life’s greatest contributions to civilization, I have to admit that this latest discovery presents a serious threat to my self-control. Reese’s is already the most slippery of slopes, and frankly, it’s one I’d gladly slalom down. Now imagine that slope is made of three pounds of chocolate and peanut butter.
Well, BJ’s Wholesale Club is selling a giant Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie for $39.99, and suddenly my grocery budget needs enhanced discipline.
Weighing in at a formidable 52 ounces, or 3.25 pounds, this absolute unit measures roughly nine inches across and packs the equivalent of approximately 80 regular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Unlike a traditional pie, there’s no flaky crust or pastry situation happening here. It’s essentially one enormous Reese’s Cup, complete with a thick milk chocolate shell and creamy peanut butter filling.
And if you’re wondering how many people it takes to finish something this ridiculous, the official serving suggestion says 48. That’s roughly 160 calories per serving, with the entire pie clocking in somewhere between 7,680 and 8,000 calories. Which, respectfully, raises some questions about what constitutes a serving when you’re staring down a Reese’s Cup the size of a dinner plate.
The oversized confection has been making the rounds on social media, and it’s easy to understand why. There’s something deeply satisfying about taking a candy that’s already damn near perfect and scaling it up to cartoon proportions.
The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie is available at select BJ’s Wholesale Club locations for $39.99, although inventory may vary.
