Checkers Thought The Restroom Was A Perfect Bread Storage Area

I used to work at a grocery store, so I understand the need to move bread racks around when space is limited, however, the restroom should never be a top, or even a last option for a storage area. You can literally put the bread rack in the middle of the dining room and it’d still be a better idea than sticking it the restroom.

A guy by the name of Stephen Staley posted a photo to Facebook as his local Checkers Drive-In in Tennessee thought it’d be a good idea to let the hamburger bread chill inside the public restroom.

Staley’s selfie did get Checkers’ attention as they responded as soon as they saw the photo, saying in a statement:

“The health and safety of our guests is our top priority, and a bread delivery mistakenly left in the bathroom is completely unacceptable.

“The buns were misplaced during a delivery at the franchise-operated Checkers location in Cleveland, Tennessee, on Saturday, April 23, 2016, and when discovered, they were immediately disposed of by the restaurant team. The buns were never served, and the employees involved in the delivery have been disciplined.

“The health department conducted an inspection at the restaurant this morning and confirmed the disposal of the buns. We apologize to our guests, and we are taking actions with this franchisee to ensure our operating procedures are followed.”

TL;DR: It was an accident and the buns were thrown away, never served.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this at a drive-in chain as Sonic did the exact same thing in 2015.

Can we please find better places for bread racks? This is ridiculous.
