London is a bit concerned about the large number of obese kids in the city. The concern has reached a drastic level, where they’re now trying to pass a law blocking fast food restaurants from being built near schools.

According to The Standard, London Mayor Boris Johnson is considering several measures concerning children’s health, one being a fast food ban.

Lord Ara Darzi, head of the London Health Commission, gathered research for over a year that essentially shows that kids are getting too fat and something needs to be done. Now he has put together multiple proposals based on that research. One of his main points revolves around a hefty stat that one in three 10-year-olds in London are medically obese. And although Darzi’s proposals don’t support physical activity much, they stress that kids need to eat less.

If Mayor Johnson approves these proposals, kids will have to walk more than 10 minutes before they can find a fast food joint, so they might start seeking healthier alternatives at school. Not that a walk would be bad for them.
