Sports Catering CEO Caught on Video Battering Dog in an Elevator

When video surfaces of a dog being kicked, you can’t help but cringe and look away. This disturbing video has outraged animal activists and has brought the CEO of a large catering company under fire.

Global News reported that Desmond Hague, chief executive of Centerplate, was the man in the video. Hague was in the elevator of the Private Residences at Hotel Georgia in downtown Vancouver, and the video shows him violently pulling on the dog’s chain and repeatedly kicking the dog.

Hague made a statement apologizing for the incident, saying it was “out of character” and that he had become frustrated with his friend’s dog. However, further investigation by the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals found that the dog was Hague’s and not a friend’s. The SPCA said “Sade,” a Doberman Pinscher, behaved in a way that led them to believe it had received that type of treatment before.

According to ESPN, Centerplate provides its food services to over 115 million people a year through more than 300 different venues, including several professional sports franchises such as the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, and Indianapolis Colts.

Animal activists have already called for a boycott of Centerplate and sports fans have said they would not be buying food from any of Centerplate’s concessions.

The incident is still being investigated and if charged with animal cruelty, Hague could face up to two years in jail.

The SPCA confirmed that Sade is OK and is in a safe, undisclosed location.
