‘The No-Food Rule’ — An Infographic on Buying a New Car vs. How Long Until You Let People Eat in It

nofoodheader

Back in January, I made my first-ever brand-new car purchase — a baby blue Fiat which I affectionately dubbed my ‘TARDIS.’ It was my pride and joy, my most prized possession. I promised myself never to get into an accident and to clean it every week. Most of all, I promised I would try to preserve that precious “new car smell” as long as possible, which of course meant forbidding one of the only things which made my long commutes bearable, food.

Of course, eventually old habits reared their ugly little crumb-stained heads and “no food” became “just a bite,” and “just a bite” became “only dry foods” and “only dry foods” became “yeah, go ahead and eat, I’ll just vacuum on the weekend.”

Well, seven weekends and exactly two vacuums later, my “No-Food Rule” has gone the way of New Year’s Resolutions and Lenten Promises. Peep the graphic below for a play-by-play of the typical life span of a new car owner’s “no-food” resolve:
