Visiting the Vizzi Truck [ADVENTURE]

You’ll hear this for weeks, months and even years to come: Gourmet FOOD TRUCKS are a phenomenon to behold. In a time where folks thrive off of drive-thrus and value menus, there’s an entire culture of foodies who seem to be taking longer lunch breaks and breaking curfew to huddle in line at their favorite roaming food trucks, enjoying gourmet food out of vehicles normally assigned for low-quality fair.

With all that in mind, yesterday was the launch of the Lunch Truck It event, a weekly series based out of Long Beach, CA, and the turnout was stupendous. Crowds flocked to the The ZaSo Design District and lined up for a fleet of trucks congregating the tightly knit street.

For those that didn’t make it, here’s some coverage from the Vizzi Truck, a brainchild of Chef David Fuñe combining styles from California, Oregon and the Philippines. While the food was delicious and spoke for itself, one thing to note was the music, plasma TV screens and dark, club-like aesthetic of the truck.

Memorable in their dining experience was the inclusion of White Truffle Popcorn with every order we placed, including a Venison Burger and their Braised Wagyu Beef Sliders.

The truck’s Venison Burger (pictured above) is a true winner, highlighted by Maple-Dijon Sriracha Aioli, Charred Sweet Onion, Queso Panela and Bacon on a nicely cooked piece of Venison. Not to be forgotten are their exquisite Braised Wagyu Beef Sliders, a trio of mini sandwiches that are turned up with a maple-balsamic BBQ beef and Chimichurri-Crème:

Here’s some 1-day old nostalgia from the event:

For a full menu, truck locations, and more information, head on over to The Vizzi Truck‘s website, Facebook and Twitter. If you’re in the Long Beach area, head out to the weekly Lunch Truck It event for a convenient weekly meetup of a rotating list of gourmet food trucks!
