Top 5 Foods With Hanni El Khatib

Hanni El Khatib is a singer-songwriter and musician based in Los Angeles, CA. He was named Top 10 Artists to Watch in 2011 by the Boston Globe, Rhapsody & Gibson Guitars. Recently he’s been making some waves with his song getting some major exposure in an extended Nike commercial featuring his song “I Got A Thing.”

Hanni has some serious culture to him, growing up in San Francisco, tuned up by being an avid skateboarder and an ethnic make up that makes him both Palestinian and Filipino. He performed music on the side while working as creative director of fashion and lifestyle brand HUF.

His latest level of exposure? This Foodbeast interview, of course. We put together an exclusive look at Hanni’s Top 5 Foods, the most important questions you can ask of a man. Here’s a look at what Hanni eats —

1. A True San Francisco Burrito

A true San Francisco burrito. There is just something perfect and comforting about an SF style burrito. I guess it’s because this is what I grew up knowing. People try to argue that SF has got it all wrong, but some of the best burritos I’ve ever had came from SF. I’ve got tons of spots in the city, but I guess a few favorites are Pancho Villa on 16th, Cancun on Mission and even Gordo on Clement makes a good one. — Hanni El Khatib

2. Meatball Sandwich on Focaccia Bread

Meatball sandwich from Mario’s Cigar Shop Cafe in the North Beach. This is the perfect sandwich served on freshly made focaccia bread with 2 huge homemade meatballs. — Hanni El Khatib

3. Fresh Lobster From Maine

Fresh lobster from Maine. I’ve always loved lobster since I was a little kid. I have no idea why, but when it’s good and fresh it can’t be beat. I could eat this all day. — Hanni El Khatib

4. Baseball Steak From Pacific Dining Car

Baseball steak from Pacific Dining Car in LA. It’s a thick cut of top sirloin and is extremely good. I prefer it cooked medium rare with a side of greens and peppercorn sauce. You feel like you gained 20 lbs after and are gonna pass out, but it’s worth it. — Hanni El Khatib

5. Fresh Sashimi

A good assortment of frsh ashimi. It’d be nice to get this fresh off the fishing boats in Japan, if I could. — Hanni El Khatib
