Technology Just Got Serious: Domino's Invents World's First Pizza Helicopter

The Domicopter

I've got to hand it to Domino's: when it comes to pizza-related technology, they've just blown the competition out of the water. That's what tends to happen when you engineer a miniature, remote-controlled helicopter for the sole purpose of delivering pizza. Let's take a second and let that sink in. We're talking hundreds of man hours, thousands of dollars, and a chain of command that involved a bunch of people in super expensive suits hearing the phrase "Domino's pizzacopter" and giving it the go-ahead.

I'll be honest — as a publicity stunt, it totally worked. I can't order pizza from anyone else if Domino's delivers with an airborne device that makes my pizza delivery boy look like a pimply fossil. This is a pizza helicopter. They literally took two of the coolest things around and combined them just for the media attention.

Yeah, that's the bad news. Domino's is all optimistic about the future of their "DomiCopter" obliterating traditional pizza delivery across the nation (they even talk about opening up a Domino's flight school) but we all know that it wouldn't make sense to install one of these babies in every town in America. The first DomiCopter will probably be the last, and after a few rounds of headlines it'll get sent to a pizza warehouse somewhere to rust into oblivion. As for my dreams of having a pizza delivered to my door by a remote controlled pizzacopter, well . . . let's just say it's good I have an active imagination.
