It was paused in 2020 before returning last year to much fanfare.

According to Geekspin, more recent Pokémon Match Battles had begun to cause some uproar as popularity attracted reseller camp-outs. Hoping to collect as many trading cards as possible, Happy Meals were purchased in bulk only to be discarded with the food untouched.

To avoid similar chaos this year, a restriction may be placed on the number of Happy Meals that can be purchased per transaction.

If you’re looking to add to your Pokémon collection, visit your local McDonald’s today.
