Matcha’s gone fully mainstream and Krispy Kreme locations in the United Arab Emirates is the latest to jump on board. The chain just dropped two new drinks, Cloud Matcha and Strawberry Matcha, proving once again that the green stuff is running culture right now.
Honestly, the rise of matcha over the past year should be studied. It’s sparked shortages, turned into TikTok clout currency, and most importantly, reached full-blown accessory status. The supposed “performative male” starter pack includes walking around gripping your cup of matcha like it’s part of the fit, a Bell Hooks paperback, and an overpriced Labubu they copped off Grailed. Congrats, king—you’re the matcha guy now.
As for the drinks themselves, Krispy Kreme’s take is cloudy, creamy, and a notable crossover since doughnuts decided they were breakfast. UAE folks can get their fix now for a limited time, but if matcha keeps up this run, don’t be surprised when Dunkin’ starts serving it with a side of existential dread.
