Krispy Kreme’s Classic Donuts Will Now Be Stuffed With Ice Cream

kkjapan

The type of ice cream-filled donut was made famous by our buddies over at Afters Ice cream, and while you might see the concept duplicated at little donut shops here and there, one of the big boys finally came in and tried their hand at the popular donut.

Starting April, 13, Krispy Kreme Japan will be dishing out something called the Kool Krispy Sandwich, which doesn’t look very “Krispy” but sure looks a hell of a lot like a Milky Bun.

The sandwich will have a scoop of vanilla ice cream, raspberry ice cream and frozen berries all crammed into a glazed Krispy Kreme donut, according to Mashable.

The low-key knockoff will sell for 420 yen, which is about $3.75 in ‘Murican dollars and will be available in stores across Japan.

We’ve seen Krispy Kreme Japan try a similar combination before, with an ice cream-topped donut, but this time they decided the ice cream is better inside instead of on top.

As delicious as this Krispy Sandwich looks, it lacks the style and toppings of a Milky Bun, so I think America still has the edge on this one. Good try, though, Japan.
