GRIMACE SHAKE

This June release from McDonald's was so popular that it spawned a hilarious, borderline spooky, viral trend. Grimace is easily one of McDonald's most beloved characters, and that was proven when everyone flocked in droves to get their hands on this tasty limited-time treat. I wouldn't be surprised if it returns next year.

LASAGNA SOUP

This is a surprising entry for me, as I was heavily into lasagna soup two years ago. It's literally one of the best recipes I've made in years and I constantly recommend it. Thanks to TikTok, this amazing recipe skyrocketed into the timelines of lasagna lovers everywhere. It's so good that you'll want to cook it for years to come.

CHICKEN COBBLER

This hearty helping of creamy chicken, crust, and veggies also received a boost from TikTok's viral engine. Rather than using fresh ingredients, the recipe was made for people with busy schedules and incorporates pre-cooked chicken, frozen veggies, and other ready-made ingredients. Chicken cobbler in under an hour? Sign me up.

BLACK CAKE

As with every year, love is in the air and brooms are being jumped. When it comes to weddings, white cake is usually the go-to, but this year black wedding cake took center stage. Unconventional yet eye-catching, black cakes are certainly one way to make your special day stand out. The trend is not to be confused with the original black cake, which is popular in Jamaica and also referred to as rum cake.

PUMPTINI

This visually stunning cocktail was inspired by the hit Bravo reality-TV show "Vanderpump Rules." It's a vodka-based drink with grapefruit, raspberry, lime, and orange liqueur. It was served at Lisa Vanderpump's "PUMP" restaurant, which closed in July after 10 years. With the right ingredients, you can easily recreate it at home and invite friends over for cocktail hour.

HUGO SPRITZ

For being called the "Drink Of The Summer," Hugo Spritz is one super unassuming cocktail. Italian in origin, its refreshing taste and low alcohol content have filled the tabs of aperitif drinkers nationwide. Thanks to a combination of perfect timing, as ABV cocktails are popular now, and TikTok fandom, Hugo Spritz became one of the most viral drinks of the year.

COWBOY BUTTER

When it comes to delicious DIY, people couldn't get enough of Cowboy Butter in 2023. For those unfamiliar, it's a compound butter made with garlic, herbs, and spices, and possibly one of the best steak sauces ever invented. This year, the hashtag garnered over 65 million views. Clearly, people couldn't get enough of this dipping sauce-sation.

CORONATION QUICHE

Chosen by King Charles III and Queen Camilla as the signature dish for their coronation, the aptly titled "Coronation Quiche" is a savory tart that includes spinach, broad beans, tarragon, cheese, and eggs. The recipe received a mixed response due to this year's egg shortage, causing frustration among people who considered the dish irresponsible. The controversy helped it go viral, proving that bad news is sometimes better than no news.

BRAZILIAN LEMONADE

This refreshing beverage was a staple at summer kickbacks and cookouts this year. Made with four simple ingredients, limes, cold water, condensed milk, and ice, Brazilian lemonade is the perfect refresher. Its simplicity and great taste helped make it a viral TikTok sensation, with everyone from home mixologists to celebrities blending it up.

COTTAGE CHEESE ICE CREAM

It's clear that once TikTok gets a hold of something good, the sky's the limit on how viral it can go. Cottage cheese ice cream has everything today's viral engine loves to spread. It's an oddball ice cream flavor that sounds disgusting at first but then makes you curious to try it. And apparently, there are a lot of curious people, as the cottage cheese ice cream hashtag on TikTok has close to 260 million views.
