Ocean Spray Is Opening A Free Pop-Up Diner With A Cranberry Twist
For generations, cranberry sauce has enjoyed a coveted spot on the Thanksgiving table, with Ocean Spray’s iconic canned version and its signature ridges holding a special place in holiday tradition. But Ocean Spray has bigger plans for the holiday favorite, and they involve a whole lot more than turkey and stuffing.
On October 22, the cranberry connoisseurs are opening The Saucy Spoon Diner, presented by Ocean Spray a one-day pop-up in New York City where cranberry sauce gets to flaunt some serious range across a menu of American diner classics.
We’re talking Too Saucy for Syrup Chicken & Waffles, Cran-loaded Grilled Cheese, The Saucy Bird Sando, and even a Born to Be Saucy Milkshake. Yes, cranberry milkshakes. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when cranberry sauce gets the keys to an entire diner kitchen, here’s your chance to find out.
And Foodbeast couldn’t resist getting our hands saucy, either. We helped dream up three dishes for the occasion: Stacked & Saucy Cran-Cakes , the Rise & Sauce Breakfast Sammie, and Dip, Dip, Hooray Cran Mozz, a batch of mozzarella sticks getting acquainted with cranberry sauce. Because if there’s one thing we know about a good cheese pull, it’s that a little sweet-tart motion can make things even more interesting.
Ocean Spray is using the pop-up to showcase cranberry sauce’s versatility beyond the holidays, particularly how its bright, sweet-tart flavor plays with savory comfort foods and sweeter diner staples. After all, cranberry sauce has been holding its own alongside roasted turkey for decades. A little grilled cheese and fried chicken should feel right at home.
Now, here’s another reason to pull up a seat: Guests can walk in and enjoy complimentary menu items on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Saucy Spoon Diner opens Thursday, October 22, from noon to 8 p.m. at 33 Leonard Street in New York City. No tickets or reservations required.
Can’t make it to NYC? We got you. Foodbeast will be sharing recipe videos and written recipes on our pages so you can recreate the dishes we helped dream up for The Saucy Spoon Diner, including pancakes crowned with pink cranberry butter and cranberry syrup, cranberry mozzarella sticks, and a cranberry breakfast sandwich. Consider it a little taste of the diner magic for your own kitchen.
