Japan Is Selling Cotton Candy That Looks Like Cat Fur
Japan is now selling edible cat fur.
Or at least something that looks alarmingly close to it.
According to SoraNews 24, Necoichi, a Japanese pet lifestyle brand, recently launched “Delicious Cat Fur,” a cotton candy treat designed to resemble the fluffy clumps that come off a calico cat during grooming. The product debuted May 30 at the company’s store inside Lalaport Yokohama and currently sells for 980 yen (about $6).
Trust, no cats were involved in the making of this thing.
The snack uses colored cotton candy to recreate the texture and tri-color appearance of calico fur, while popping candy hidden throughout the fluff crackles as you eat it.
This is the country that gave us cat cafés, cat islands, cat trains, cat pastries, and enough cat-themed merchandise to financially support several generations of house cats.
The product even comes packaged as a gift item.
So somewhere in Yokohama, somebody is absolutely wrapping up fake cat fur and giving it to another person with complete sincerity.
