Pizza Hut Japan’s New Cheese Curry Pizza Is Apparently ‘Drinkable’
Pizza Hut Japan just dropped something called the “Drinkable Cheese Curry Pizza,” and really, the name alone deserves a moment.
Officially titled the Nomeru Pizza Cheese Curry, the limited-time pie blends Japanese curry sauce with Gouda cheese on pizza dough, highlighting the creamy, molten texture that inspired the “drinkable” label in the first place.
Curry pizza is already a popular option in Japan, and curry bread already lives comfortably in bakeries across the country. Cheese curry is a pretty common upgrade in Japanese comfort food. Pizza Hut Japan basically looked at those two ideas, fused them together, and cranked the cheese pull until it became marketing copy.
Instead of mozzarella, the chain chose Gouda for its sharper flavor and stronger aroma, which gives the pizza a richer, more savory edge than the usual cheese-heavy builds.
The Nomeru Pizza Cheese Curry is available now through June 15 at participating Pizza Hut Japan locations. A personal-sized pie starts at 700 yen (about $4.55), while a medium goes for 2,230 yen (roughly $14.50). Pizza Hut Japan is also offering a combo with fries and fried chicken for 990 yen.
At this point, Pizza Hut Japan continues to operate like a parallel universe where pizza toppings follow a completely different set of rules. And I’m over here wishing that the U.S. somehow makes it into that universe.
