Here’s Why You Should Get Familiar With The Basturma Breakfast Burrito

The world of breakfast burritos is far and wide, offering options in terms of fillings, presentation, and location, so it’s no wonder that our intrepid and hungry enthusiast, Elie, has had plenty to experience on this savory journey.

Adding its own significant and unique flavor to that world is Bread & Breakfast in Burbank, California. This establishment touts itself as the “Home of the Original Basturma Burrito,” an AKA that instantly triggers my intrigue. For those not familiar, basturma is an intensely seasoned, air-dried and cured beef with roots in Armenia and Turkey, depending on which history expert you talk to. Fun fact: Pastrami derives its name from Basturma.

But Bread & Breakfast can also be proud of their Soujouk Burrito, another worthy entry in Elie’s encyclopedic palate for breakfast burritos. Not familiar with soujouk, either? Then know that you’re getting a flavorful wake up call in the form of a dry, spicy, and fermented sausage.

With the potent duo of breakfast burritos to say “good morning” to, Elie busted out the Salted Caramel Java Monster to pair with their persuasive language of flavor. A Foodbeast sommelier he might be, because salty and sweet are the tag team champions of flavor combos.
