McDonald’s Krispy Kreme Test Expands to Over 150 Kentucky Locations

McDonald’s will officially be expanding their partnership and distribution of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to over 150 Kentucky locations starting March 21.

Back in October of 2022, McDonald’s conducted a small-scale operation to test the market, offering three variations of doughnuts: the original glazed, the chocolate sprinkle, and the raspberry-filled. While only nine lucky locations were selected for the experiment, it clearly was a success. Beginning on March 21, major cities within Kentucky will sell the three types of doughnu — a small change being the raspberry-filled will be replaced by a chocolate-filled.

Test markets are nothing new to the food industry, as giants like Starbucks will select certain key demographics they believe will respond well to new products and, if green-lit, will expand their rollouts nationwide and potentially worldwide. One big exception to the worldwide rollout being the McPlant burger from McDonalds back in 2021 that made waves in Europe but failed to survive in U.S. markets. Sorry, stateside vegetarians and vegans.

If you’re in Kentucky and stumble across a McDonald’s selling these bad boys in March, make sure to grab an extra one and enjoy it for me.
