Why This Legendary Bangkok Restaurant Uses Hundreds Of Pounds Of Chicken Per Day

Thai Basil Chicken, also known as Pad Kra Pao Gai, is one of the most popular chicken dishes in Thailand — and is also considered to be one of the tastiest.

The country’s capital, Bangkok, is a city that’s legendary for its profound food scene, rife with lowkey gems and delectable restaurants that serve up some of the world’s best dishes. Seo Lang, an unassuming spot and local icon, has a 45-year-old reputation of serving up the best Thai Basil Chicken.

So it is no surprise at all that Seo Lang uses nearly 300lbs of chicken per day to satiate the serpentine line of folks looking to get their fix of what’s considered Bangkok’s shining example.

As showcased in the video above from mouthwatering Instagram account @bangkok.foodie, Seo Lang cooks up around 120kg or 264lbs of chicken on a daily basis. And with their Thai Basil Chicken going for just 40 baht ($1.22 in US dollars) and being so delicious, it’s easy to see why Seo Lang goes through so much of the poultry regularly.

Seo Lang is open from 6 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and closed on weekends. The exact location is 227 Chakkraphet Road, Wang Burapha Phirom, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand.
