LA Chefs Create One Of A Kind Dishes To Help The AAPI Community

The way the restaurant industry has come together to support each other and their community throughout this pandemic has been a radiant silver lining throughout this ordeal. Pivots and creative ways to raise money have been abundant and have not slowed down in efforts. A new event going down in Los Angeles called Pop Off is continuing that energy by harnessing the innovative talents of some of the city’s chefs to help support the AAPI community. The timeliness of this is crucial the way that community has been subject to a rise in hate since the onset of the pandemic.

Pop Off LA, presented by LA Food Gang, will take place from May 16-23 during AAPI Heritage Month to showcase unique, one-of-a-kind menu items like a Filipino Longanisa Pizza from Speak Cheezy and Kuya Lord, Sichuan Trompo Taco from Tacos 1986 and Yu Bo, and a Burmese Bibimbap with gochujang and tea leaf dressing from Burmese Please and Bites & Bashes. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Off Their Plate nonprofit, which will help give aid to struggling Asian restaurants that will provide meals for AAPI organizations.

All of the exciting one-day-only mashups can be had through tickets purchased at https://www.lafoodgang.com/ via OpenTable. The event goes until May 23 so there’s still time to get in on the delicious and community-supporting action!
