10-Year-Old Boy Survives In The Wild For 24 Days By Eating Snakes

Talk about survival of the fittest.

A 10-year-old Chinese boy, only known by his surname, Miu, survived on his own for 24 days in the wild thanks to some brilliant intelligence and quite a few snakes, as reported by the Daily Mail. Miu, who fled his home after his father beat him for unknown reasons, ended up traveling over 300 miles from his residence in the Yunnan providence all the way up to the Sichuan providence.

Along the way, the child slept in an abandoned truck or on wet leaves and grass, collected plastic bottles to exchange for food money, and picked wild fruits off of trees to eat. He also managed to heal himself while sick by making an herbal tea, and often grilled snakes that he killed as a source of sustenance.

You can already tell this was one incredibly resourceful kid, but Miu also exhibited no fear, telling reporters that he wasn’t scared a bit.

When the boy was eventually found, his dad took an overnight bus to pick him up, saying that he was “wrong” to lash out at his son the way he did. Hopefully the boy doesn’t ever have to endure another beating, but if it does happen again, at least we know he can take care of himself.
