Students Arrested for Stealing Ronald McDonald Statue, Stashed It in Dorm

What can a bunch of bored kids from a liberal arts Christian university do on a Friday night? Steal a Ronald McDonald statue, of course. Four students were arrested for allegedly stealing a statue of the McDonald’s mascot in Bradley, IL. The suspects, all from Olivet Nazarene University, were caught on surveillance videos making off with the statue.

The four students allegedly drove to the McDonald’s together late Friday evening. According to Det. Brandon Jenson, the driver went to order food at the drive-thru. Meanwhile, the other three removed the statue and hid it nearby in a bush. They received eight cheeseburgers and an ice cream cone, paid and left. They later returned for the statue.

When a patrolman identified the suspects’ vehicle on the college campus, they were soon arrested. The fast food clown was discovered in one of the school’s dorm rooms. Because the statue was valued at $7,500, the students are facing felony theft charges.
