The Pandora of Beer Makes Recommendations Based on Your Preferences

In the future, we won’t have to make any decisions ever. All computers, from our music playlists to our restaurant ordering systems, will automatically know our preferences before even we do.

Luckily the future isn’t all that far off. Now, there’s a new beer recommendation website that wants to extend the mind-reading to your favorite brewskis. Created as a Stanford school project, BeerViz offers beer suggestions based on users’ preferences in appearance, taste, and aroma. An interactive chart separates beers chromatically by type and highlights the the connections between different beers based on your criteria. For example, if you’re looking for a beer that tastes like Stone’s Ruination, just hover over the beer name and a squiggly black line leads you across the chart to J.W. Lees Vintage Harvest Ale. All review data is pulled from Beer Advocate.

It’s all very interesting, though links to product pages, photos, and local availability definitely wouldn’t hurt. In the meantime, we guess we’ll just have to keep listening to our friends and bartenders. Womp womp.
