Walmart Launched An Easter Grocery Sale To Match Last Year’s Pre-Inflation Prices

Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the last year, you’ve noticed unprecedented inflation in almost every aspect of the market from home prices to groceries. I even broke down what 2023 inflation will look like for us in an easy-to-digest guide in case you’re curious about what’s to come.

In an effort to ease the sting of inflation that everyone’s felt, Walmart announced a grocery sale on all Easter holiday accoutrements — especially those pricey eggs the kids love to paint — on now through April 15.

In a press release from Monday, Walmart reported that roughly 65% of customers expected inflation to affect their traditional Easter dinner. Their solution is to “hop over inflation” by lowering the prices of typical Easter dinner staples — ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, sweet potatoes, etc. — in an effort to keep Easter dinner and baskets under $100.

WalletHub released data from 2022, indicating that $20.8 billion dollars were spent on Easter last year. That boils down to about $170 per person and includes sweet treats, lunch or dinner, and gifts for themselves or others.

If you’re concerned over inflation ruining your Easter Sunday plans, head over to Walmart and “keep it 100” or less. Or, if you’re feeling naughty, head over to Aldi for a couple bags of NSFW marshmallow “bunnies.”
