This Boba Shop Horror Game Is Bubble Tea With A Side of Fear

If you thought the scariest thing about boba was the extra 75 cents for oat milk, think again. The Boba Teashop is the new indie game that starts off sweet — you’re running a cozy little bubble tea shop, taking orders, shaking drinks — and then punches you in the face with full-blown horror. Think brown sugar milk tea with a shot of nightmare fuel.

Developed by indie creator Mike Ten, The Boba Teashop is half shop sim, half psychological thriller. One minute, you’re crafting perfect taro slushies and topping them with extra pearls. The next? The walls are glitching, the music’s warped, and some unseen force is very much trying to take you down before you can finish that strawberry matcha latte. It’s like if your favorite neighborhood boba spot collided with an A24 film — but you’re the unlucky one behind the counter.

Players have been calling it “weirdly addicting” and “deeply unsettling in the best way,” which sounds exactly like every group project you’ve ever done in real life. And honestly? The jump scares hit harder than biting into an undercooked boba ball.

If you’re brave (or just bored of regular café sims), you can grab The Boba Teashop now on Steam. It’s available for PC and Mac, so you can spiral into sweet, chewy terror from the comfort of your desk.

So, what’s it gonna be? One matcha milk tea — and a side of creeping dread? Shaken, not stirred.
