Blackened Chicken Sandwiches Have Been Spotted On The Popeyes Menu

Popeyes broke the fast food industry last time they introduced a fried chicken sandwich, mainly because people kept commenting on how good it actually was.

The fried chicken specialists seem to have released another sandwich, but opted not to fry up the poultry this time around.

Instead, they’ve come up with a Blackened Chicken Sandwich (also available in spicy form) that’s popped up on the menu on their website. YouTuber Peep This Out!, who found the sandwich at a location in Southern California, also noted that ordering this non-fried sandwich had to be done through the Popeyes app.

The sandwich is available in classic and spicy form, both of which consist of a blackened chicken breast, pickles, mayo, and a brioche bun, making it similar in build to the viral Popeyes fried chicken sandwich.

Blackened chicken is chicken rubbed in a blend of spices that’s then cooked over high heat. It’s not fried, which gives Popeyes a possible better-for-you version of their fried chicken staple.

At this point, it’s not clear yet how long the blackened sandwich has been out or where you can get it, but Chewboom is reporting that the sandwich is a limited time offer at participating locations.

Foodbeast has also reached out to Popeyes to get more info and we’ll keep you updated as we know more.
