Panera Adds Croissant Toast Sandwiches To Spring Menu

Panera Bread is putting some extra butter in its step this spring with the debut of Croissant Toast Sandwiches—a crispy, flaky remix on your usual lunch rotation. Launching April 16, these golden-layered sandwiches are the stars of Panera’s updated lunch and dinner menu, which also brings back fan-favorite seasonal items like the Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken Salad and Mexican Street Corn Chowder.

But back to the bread. These new Croissant Toasts aren’t your average slice-and-stack situation. Panera is sandwiching all-butter croissant dough into toasty slices that deliver a crunchy edge with a soft, buttery interior. Basically, it’s a croissant cosplaying as sandwich bread—and it’s working.

Here’s what’s on deck:

  • Croque Monsieur Croissant Toast – Black Forest ham, melty provolone and asiago cheeses, plus a caramelized onion and gruyere spread. Imagine a fancy ham and cheese that still hits like comfort food.
  • Fromage Croissant Toast – Provolone, American cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, and garlic aioli. Think elevated grilled cheese, but flakier and way more photogenic.

Panera’s calling this move a “gamechanger,” and honestly, for a brand best known for its soups and You Pick Twos, this is one of its more creative plays in recent memory.

The new menu also kicks off Panera’s refreshed brand platform, “It Just Meals Good,” which is all about celebrating food that hits right—whether you’re dining solo in your car or splitting a salad with a friend who “wasn’t hungry.”

The Croissant Toast Sandwiches are available for a limited time, so consider this your buttery PSA.
