KFC Thailand Is Launching Fried Chicken-Scented Incense Sticks

To commemorate that upcoming Chinese New Year on January 22, KFC Thailand is launching fried chicken-scented incense sticks that emit the aroma of the brand’s iconic fried chicken.

The new incense sticks even boast the appearance and feel of fried chicken skin. According to KFC Thailand’s Instagram post, the incense is marinated in the brand’s famous 11 herbs and spices, just to ensure the scent’s authenticity.

As for its availability, KFC Thailand’s Instagram post caption states that the incense sticks are not for sale. However, it encourages fans to follow the brand’s Facebook page. Perhaps that means further info on its availability will be shared there.

The product is causing some negative reactions, though, as some commenters disapprove of the product for being culturally inappropriate, since the lighting of incense in some religious practices is done for funerals, special ceremonies, daily prayers, and paying respects to ancestors. One user commented, “RIP KFC. This is in super bad taste.” Another said, “This is wrong man !!! Don’t make Buddha’s prayer tools a joke.”
