Matcha keeps finding its way into fast food menus, and Jack in the Box just made it official.

As part of its 2026 lineup, the chain is rolling out a dedicated matcha platform, signaling that this isn’t a one-off seasonal drink but a category it plans to build on. For a brand that’s been around for 75 years, leaning into matcha says a lot about where fast food thinks taste is headed.

Matcha has quietly moved from niche café drink to mainstream signal. It reads cleaner, more intentional, and more “daytime drink” than the syrup-heavy options that used to dominate drive-thru menus. Jack’s move suggests the chain sees matcha not as a trend to chase, but as a lane worth owning.

To kick things off, Jack is pairing the matcha launch with a limited Valentine’s Day moment, including reusable heart-shaped straws available February 12–15 with any drink purchase (excluding boba, of course). It’s playful, but restrained. The focus stays on the drink.

While Jack in the Box is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year with throwback menu items, the matcha platform stands out because it isn’t about looking back. It’s about aligning with how people are actually ordering now.
