Science Says Fast Food Is Just As Effective As Your Recovery Drink, Bro

I wouldn’t be surprised to later find out this study was sponsored by McDonald’s, because it just doesn’t feel right.

According to a study posted in the National Center for Biotechnology Information, fast food and sport supplements have very little difference in your post-workout recovery.

This study was performed on 11 athletes, who worked out for 90 minutes, then had their blood samples taken during a 4-hour recovery period.

Real Clear Science said the groups were given both fast food such as McDonald’s hotcakes, hash browns, hamburgers, and fries, while at another time they were given Gatorade, PowerBars, and Cytomax “energy” powder. Both the fast food and supplements contained the same number of macro nutrients when given to the athletes. After analyzing the blood samples, they found no differences in the blood glucose and insulin responses, same with glycogen recovery. Which is basically the scientific way of saying, their bodies reacted the same to both fast food and the dietary supplements they took.

There’s so much to question in this study, which didn’t seem very extensive. For one, if they’re athletes, their active bodies probably react to food differently than my lazy ass does, right? Also, what if Cytomax just sucks?

Either way, can’t wait for pissed off trainers to quickly try and debunk this.
