By now you have to know there is a Barbie movie coming to theaters on Friday, July 21. There has been a rolodex of partnerships for Barbiecore, from Crocs to Cold Stone Creamery to even your very own chance to rent out the Barbie Dream House with Airbnb. And now, enter Burger King.
Why is it that every time Burger King launches something it’s always questionable? On July 11, Burger King Brazil shared a photo of its new Barbie meal on Instagram and Twitter.
The Barbie-inspired meal includes Barbie’s logo on fries, a soda, and even a pink milkshake topped with a pink glazed doughnut. But wait, what about a burger that’s aimed to go viral? Chances are you’re thinking the burger has pink buns to stay on trend. Nope, folks are just getting pink sauce.
The mysterious pink sauce was quickly met with disappointment on Instagram, with people noting, “What a disappointment! They used Spongebob sauce and the bread isn’t even pink!” Another noted, “Promised everything and delivered nothing.”
