How Many Cookies are You Taking Down at Japan’s All-You-Can-Eat Cookie Cafés?

Japan is once again proving that they’re the most exciting culture when it comes to how they think about food. Sushi for expecting mothers? Yup. Lamps that look like some of your favorite breads? Sure do! A savory bacon and potato pie at McDonalds? Bet you didn’t even know you wanted that until now. For any food curious person, looking to Japan is always going to develop fun and creative results that will have you looking for your next flight to the land of the rising sun.

All that is to say… did you know they had cafes with all you can eat cookies?

SoraNews 24 reports that these cozy cafes are all over Japan and there’s a deep love for dessert cafes throughout the country. One of the most popular cafes is the Aunt Stella brand of cookies that gives you access to the “Cookie Viking plan” which grants you unlimited cookies and your choice of drink (milk, tea, coffee or orange juice) for just 980 yen ($6.60).

With the purchase, you’re given one hour and a basket that you fill up with as many cookies as you can. On any given day, there will be a variety of 20 different cookies ranging from staples such as chocolate chip to Aunt Stella exclusives like Watermelon, Sakura Cherry Blossom, Lemon Pearl Sugar, Spiral Mango and a whole lot more.

The Aunt Stella branches currently offering all-you-can-eat cookies are located at:
● Sapporo Apia (Hokkaido Prefecture)
● Akita Topiko
● Niigata CoCoLo
● Nagaoka CoCoLo (Niigata Prefecture)
● Kashiwa Sky Plaza (Chiba Prefecture)
● Otawara Tobu (Tochigi Prefecture)
● Nagoya Parco (Aichi Prefecture)
● Abeno Gochiso Building (Osaka Prefecture)
● Tokiwa Wasada Town (Oita Prefecture)

You should note that the Nagaoka and Kashiwa branches only offer the service on weekdays, and the Otawara and Tokiwa Wasada Town branches only on weekends and holidays. Free game for all the other locations though!

We’ve seen dessert sections in buffets before, but a whole buffet dedicated to just cookies is more or less unheard of.
