This Unique Clothing Collection Was Inspired By the Pitmasters of Central Texas BBQ

You may have not made the connection before, but clothing and barbecue have one definitive thing in common — craftsmanship. From the design process of a seasonal fashion line to the attention to detail when smoking brisket, both worlds share a common thread that yields quality product.

FLAN, the Brooklyn-based fashion brand known for its witty drops and penchant for having a good time, tapped in with barbecue pitmasters in Central Texas for its latest Autumn/Winter ’22 collection, Up In Smoke.

“I was incredibly inspired by our trip to Texas, and getting to meet so many passionate people working to continue the BBQ tradition was a truly special experience for me. Returning home and figuring out how to translate everything I saw to a collection of clothing was a fun and inspiring challenge, and I believe the final results speak for themselves,” shared Jared Vinik, Co-Founder of FLAN.

During the design process, FLAN took inspiration from the classic gingham usually seen on tablecloths and translated it to a print featured on a wide-leg drawstring pant, oversized “Smoking Hot” crewneck sweatshirt and short-sleeve button down.

The unique and dynamic collection also features a wide lineup of clothing pieces that pay homage to barbecue culture, like a straight-leg denim pant that features zipper cut-offs to accommodate multiple temperatures, and other pieces that include sweats and t-shirts adorned with barbecue-related graphics and prints.

FLAN’s Up In Smoke collection will be available to purchase on flanlabs.com starting tomorrow, October 21.
