Numbers Confirm Food Truck Popularity Nationwide

Remember when you used to forget your lunch at home and the only option was that questionably greasy taco truck parked at that sketchy uninhabited corner? Well those days are long gone. As displayed by shows such as Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race and social media sites such as Twitter, new research by the National Restaurant Association shows that the food truck fad is exploding across the nation.

According to the research, one-fifth of consumers said they saw a food truck in their community this summer and out of those consumers one-quarter actually made a purchase. Food trucks have come a long way from their humble beginnings. Originally equated with small time chefs and entrepreneurs, food trucks are not only getting more gourmet, but more mainstream too. According to restaurant.org the food truck industry represents opportunities for established restaurants to expand with six out of ten American adults or 59% say that “they would likely visit a food truck if their favorite restaurant offered one, up from 47% a year ago.”

If you’ve never eaten from a food truck, do it right now! Here are a few reasons why eating from a food truck today is awesome:

1. They offer fresh and interesting options.

2. It’s fast and affordable.

3. It’s all in the hunt! Finding the truck is apart of the whole experience.
