Restaurants Ring In Pumpkin Spice Season With Their Newest Offerings

Wait a minute, has September not just started? While it might still be summer outdoors, it’s almost fall inside of most major coffee chains. That’s right, pumpkin spice has officially landed, people. Brace yourself for months of basic Instagrams, the season is upon us.

On August 23rd, Dunkin’ Donuts officially kicked off pumpkin spice season (honestly, I think we should discuss changing the name of fall to “Pumpkin Spice Season”) by launching the return of the chain’s pumpkin coffee, lattes, and macchiatos in New York only.

Don’t panic, August 29th marks the official release of Dunkin’ Donuts pumpkin spice products nationwide. Hold onto your leggings, you’ll get your PSL (pumpkin spice latte, for non-believers) Snaps in soon enough. And, undoubtedly, pumpkin donuts of all shapes and sizes are soon to follow.

The 29th release date beats the unveiling of the McCafe Pumpkin Spice Latte at McDonald’s by two days; the PSL McCafe hit locations August 31th. Too slow, Micky D’s, too slow. Peet’s Coffee also released their pumpkin spice line on August 31st, which includes the new Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Mocha, Pumpkin Latte, Pumpkin Javiava, and Pumpkin Chia.

Then, of course, from there it’s only a matter of time before all nature of pumpkin spice products start to roll out. Time has reported that pumpkin spice Cheerios are being released around Labor Day, which we’re sure is only the beginning of the craze. Last season, if you haven’t chosen to block it out of your memory, you’ll remember there was everything from pumpkin vodka, pumpkin M&Ms, and pumpkin potato chips.

But, the real question on everyone’s mind is, where is Starbucks in the race to pumpkin spice season? While Dunkin’ Donuts has already staked claim as the fastest chain this season, we strangely haven’t even heard a release date for the PSL Starbucks line. If we all remember our pumpkin spice history, Starbucks was the first to coin this now iconic latte back in 2003, and the chain has arguably perfected the drink since then.

We’re not sure when Starbucks will break the silence on this critical fall information, but it has us all hopeful that this could mean something new from the chain for this year’s “Pumpkin Spice Season.” Seriously, it would catch on, don’t you think?
